Diogenes Laërtius

Diogenes Laërtius (not to be confused with Diogenes the Cynic), was a historian of ancient Greece who wrote extensively about the ancient Greek philosophers. He probably wrote during the first half of the third century CE.

Almost nothing is known about Diogenes Laëritus himself — even the century in which he lived is debated. However, his surviving work Lives and Opinions of Eminent Philosophers has been a primary source of information about ancient Greek philosophy.
